Hemp Oil’s Usage Is Great News For The Skin And The Heart

Although they all come from the Cannabis sativa plant, which is also used to make marijuana and cannabidiol (CBD) oil, these three products have quite different effects and uses. Hemp oil, also called hemp seed oil, is created by pressing the seeds of hemp plants under cold pressure, much as olive oil is created by pressing olives. Instead, many of hemp oil’s purported health benefits may be traced back to its constituents: Hemp oil is rich in essential omega fatty acids and a broad range of minerals, making it a potentially useful supplement for maintaining skin, hair, and nail health. Although researchers have made some progress, more work remains to be done.

Hemp as a Source of Nutrition

One tablespoon of hemp oil has around 125 calories and 14 grammes of fat, or 18% of the recommended intake. In addition to being rich in protein, fibre, and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, hemp seeds are a great source of many other essential minerals. Hemp oil has been proved to be beneficial against inflammation, namely due to the presence of alpha-linolenic and gamma-linolenic fatty acids.

Helps in the healing process for skin conditions

Chen states that studies show Hemp oil products omega fatty acids may help treat inflammatory skin conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. This research is still in its early stages, but preliminary findings include:

In a short experiment done in 2005, people with eczema who consumed two tablespoons of hemp oil daily for eight weeks experienced significant improvements in the look of their skin. The individuals’ skin irritation and dryness lessened, and some found they need less medication to manage their condition. Scientists in 2014 showed that the omega fatty acids in hemp oil strengthened cell membranes, making the skin more resistant to infections from bacteria, viruses, and fungus. The research also suggests that using crushed hemp leaves straight to the skin may help with the treatment of scabies.

Possibly good cardiovascular system

The Hemp oil products are useful because they have “ideal” mix of omega fatty acids and not only because it contains a lot of them. Chen claims that the 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids contained in hemp oil is optimal for lowering cholesterol and improving heart health. Vegetable oils and other types of oils tend to be richer in omega-6 fatty acids and lower in omega-3 fatty acids, and this imbalance may contribute to inflammation and cardiovascular disease.
